What to Say to Police Officers to Express Appreciation
The few cases of police force misconduct have been magnified and exaggerated, mainly past videos on Tv set.
The resulting force per unit area on law enforcement is unfair. Of course, police misconduct must be openly investigated along with accountability. Only all of u.s. depend on protection from the officers in blue.
Madeline Perry sent us this email:
"In light of the recent events in Dallas, many people are wondering what they can do to show support. I just took several boxes of pastry to my local Orange Park Law Department, and they seemed appreciative. It is a very modest thing but tin show our support for all our officers who protect united states solar day and nighttime."
So we asked members of our Email Grouping how we tin can bear witness appreciation for the hard work that police exercise.
SHOW THEM THE Money
Without them, we would descend into anarchy. To truly appreciate them, we should pay them more than. I don't run toward armed criminals. They practise.
Second, we should ensure they receive the proper training to do their jobs well. Finally, nosotros should always bear witness them the respect their blue uniforms deserve.
E'er be polite.
Always exist respectful.
Always give them the benefit of the uncertainty.
Blessings to you.

CHURCH STEPS UP
Any gesture of kindness to show appreciation is almost always a good thing to do, specially where our law enforcement officers are concerned.
Westside Baptist Church building observes "Heroes Mean solar day" on the Sunday on or before Sept. 11. We invite all first responders to nourish our morning worship service where nosotros recognize them, thank them and provide a free dejeuner for them and their families post-obit the service.
Our church has several agile and retired starting time responders. Information technology is a small way to let them know that we back up and appreciate them.
As senior pastor of the church and the father of a St. Johns County law officer, I believe that "Heroes Day" ought to be a national observance.
Sept. 11 falls on a Sun this year, and all starting time responders are invited to attend.
Keith Russell , senior pastor, Westside Baptist Church
A Unproblematic THANK Yous
As a erstwhile constabulary officeholder, I can tell y'all that whatsoever word of kindness is appreciated.
Also if you see an officer eating his repast, he is on duty but give him a break and permit him swallow in peace. Also remember to move over when they are on the side of the road. They want to go home at the end of their work days, too.
Mike Liptrap , Jacksonville
OBEY THE LAWS
The simplest thing we can do is obey the laws - traffic, noise ordinances and so along. Kindness too goes a long way. We demand to teach our children that law enforcement officers are helpers and not authorities who should be feared.

Nosotros Ask TOO MUCH OF THEM
I believe that if nosotros really desire to back up our JSO, nosotros should all exist working to ensure that they are not responsible for the mentally ill. If we vote and speak upwardly to fund appropriate levels of mental health funding and access, JSO could practice their actual job.
Constantly arresting, housing and trying to treat citizens with mental health issues is non something they were hired to do.

Turn TO GOD, PARENTS
Put God dorsum in the classrooms and authorities, and put parents back in their children'southward lives.
Information technology's taken ii generations to go into this mess. Donuts volition not become us out of it.

THIS IS NOT NEGOTIABLE
Lack of respect, let solitary the disgraceful, horrid and disgusting attacks on law enforcement, puts our country closer and closer to anarchy!
Edward F. Roberts , Jacksonville
INCREASE Preparation
Nosotros should evidence respect to constabulary enforcement officers and encourage legislators to increase funding for grooming in response to threats and protestation situations. We should also be on the lookout man for those who might practice harm to the police and general public in club to assist and inform police enforcement yet non interfere in any action they may demand to take.
Lou Orban , Jacksonville
Call up THEM ON HOLIDAYS
The final ii years nosotros take delivered cookies to the local law and fire stations on Christmas Day.
Frank Woodard , Jacksonville
JUST SHOW KINDNESS
Smile at them. Exist courteous. When you are able to exist near them, thank them for their service. Give them hugs if that seems appropriate! Show the police officers kindness in whatever way you can.
When my daughter was in middle school, we would run across the school police officers get together every morning. One morning she decided she wanted to cease and pray with them, so we did.
This became a daily habit throughout the rest of her eye school years. She still prays for law officers whenever we pass one on the road.
